Celebrating 20 Years of the Oishei High School Scholarship Program

In partnership with the Buffalo Independent Secondary School Network (BISSNET), now called the Education Collaborative of WNY (EdCo), The John R. Oishei Foundation established the Oishei High School Scholarship Program 20 years ago.

Today, the Oishei Scholarship offers an educational opportunity to Western New York students of color and is intended to make a positive difference in the perception, attitudes and lives of the students, their families and the academic institutions themselves. This highly selective, competitive scholarship funds the full four-year tuition of one incoming freshman at each participating EdCo high school. Scholarships are awarded based on consideration of need, merit and potential for academic success. The Oishei Foundation has funded scholarships for nearly 300 students, with tuition support now totaling over $800,000 per year and more than $10 million dollars since 1998.

We're marking this milestone with a video that celebrates our scholars' succeses.

Special thanks goes out to Riveter Design, who did a stellar job managing the video production.

And, here's a snippet that shows the experiences and plans of our graduating senior scholars.

We love seeing and hearing about how our scholars are flourishing!
